What was the turnover margin unchained? Just wondering, I think Stewart threw 4 picks of his own.

Honestly i never paid much attention to the fans when i played. You always had a few who well would do things, or say things, and even once had one throw a rock at me, and yeah that was back 20 or 30 yrs ago.
Problem you have today is to much emotional involvement from the fans.
I love a good game. I love to see the fans cheering and into it. But there is that little thin line you don't cross as a player or fan.
And lately it seems to really be getting crossed alot. Last year the attack on Kelly's coach from a parent of a player. The situation here. Even just in 2001 Appy and Bath. My only problem with that situation, there was about 1 min. left in the game and the starting QB is on the punt team, the game was decided, and the kid gets blocked an it set off a firework or reactions.
He gets hit coming down field and not even paying attention to where he is on the field, when he is right in our punt return side, your gonna get hit, that is how we coach it, turn and hit the first person coming to you, don't let them come through the wall. After the hit a coach runs onto the field from Bath cussing and chasing Appy players. Yeah it almost cleared the stands. Police even took the field to make sure it didn't.
People have kids playing in these games and it's gonna get emotional. But some need to learn to control it. And honestly coaches need to learn to shut players mouths, stop the trash talking and if discipline is broke, deal with it, and deal with it in an effectie manner.
Times have changed but today you just have more doing more. Back 20-30 yrs ago. You had a few who would. Today that few has grown.
Like i said fans and coaches and players, have to know not to cross that line. And if it is crossed well someone needs to deal with it.
It can get ugly in a hurry. There has been brawls before, it's an emotional game. But when it goes that far. Well all i can say is someone crossed that line and forgot what the game is all about. And that can happen from fans, players and coaches.

That about sums it up, thanks for the thoughts. I was really curious because it just seems like things have become worse around here and not for good reasons.

    Re: JIB vs. Pound

I think this boils down to the problem with the Peanut league last year with Norton pushing for Pound to get suspended from the league for a year, even though that was last year and the fact that Pounds Jv or varsity hasn't beat Burton at either level since a 2002 Jv game, involving the same players. The kids on both these teams of Burton and Pound have battled it out often since Peanut and seems like they were pitted in the super bowl each year against each other and I guess most of the emotions spilled over. Someone said they got mad cause there was a sign or a chant of we want our Super Bowl trophy, maybe that was something said on the field, add to the fact that with the loss Pound's mathmatically out of the playoffs.

    Re: JIB vs. Pound

What happened in Little League should NOT affect these teams now. Both teams were great in Little League. Most of these guys have respect for one another. You are right though sometimes people hold things or a grudge, but once you reach the Varsity level it doesn't matter how many times you won in little league. Varsity is what matters. So congrats Raiders on your win.

I will not say we didn't give some but we sure as heck took some too. Several of our players was clipped in the back and it was not called either.

MOX be glad to sign you up next year to officiate. Seems like you have a good grasp of how to officiate. We can always use some compentent people in tha association. We usually start having our clinic in July. I will do as I did before the season starts in June letting people know about it.

It must have been the moon UKcats1. Our game had a few flags for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Kids just running their mouth.

    Re: JIB vs. Pound

Another thing while everyone wants to bitch about the trash talking Burton does and Mega didn't mention what might cause it to start, which I'm sure he experienced, is how would you like to be a African-American kid and hear the N word or other racial slurs everytime you play as it happens in every game. The gestures or High 5's with fans are tame compared to what those kids have to put up with every game and as another posted stated from coebern he was one who has tried to "bait" them into doing something. They show more restraint than any other kids around by not letting it get to them to that point of getting tossed. Anyway one of the players said who was doing the most on field talk was the Burton player who played Big League ball at Pound this past summer.
